While I was walking home, it began to rain.
หรือถ้าสับที่ ก็ไม่ต้องมีคอมม่าแล้ว => It began to rain while I was walking home,
คำที่ใช้ขึ้นต้น Adverb Clause

• time (เวลา): before, after, as soon as, since, until, while, whenever
• reason (เหตุผล): as, because, since
• condition (เงื่อนไข): as if, even if, if, unless
• contrast (ขัดแย้ง): although, even though, despite the fact that, whereas
• purpose (บอกจุดประสงค์) : in order that, so that
• manner : as if, as though

เช่น Although Jay has a Master's degree, he works as a store clerk.

If Clause ประโยคเงื่อนไข

มีอยู่ 3 รูปแบบ คือ

• เป็นไปได้จริง เป็นเหตุเป็นผล : If present simple, future simple
  • เช่น If it rains tomorrow, I will stay at home. (ถ้าฝนตก เราจะอยู่บ้าน <= เป็นเรื่องที่ทำได้)
• บอกเรื่องที่เป็นไปได้ยาก หรือสมมติเหตุการณ์อีกแบบที่ไม่ได้เกิดขึ้น : if past simple, would + simple
  • เช่น If I were you , I would go to study abroad. (แบบนี้ จะใช้ were แทน was ด้วย แม้จะเป็นประธานเอกพจน์)
• เป็นเรื่องที่เป็นไปไม่ได้ ตรงข้ามกับความจริงในในอดีต : if past perfect, would have + V3
  • เช่น If I had found her address, I would have sent her an invitation.
